Student Support Services is a federally-funded TRIO program that is designed to increase the retention and graduation rates of UNI students who meet the federal eligibility requirements. Program staff serve as advocates for participants and provide services based on your individual need. The following free services are offered to eligible participants:
|Academic Advising, course selection, registration, and monitoring of academic progress||Education and long-range planning, plus personal and career advising||Two for-credit Courses: Strategies for Academic Success and Career Decision Making||Tutoring, study groups, and college survival and study skills workshops|
|Cultural and educational activities||Financial literacy education and assistance with the financial aid process||Financial assistance to qualified participants||Graduate school enrollment assistance|
To participate in Student Support Services, complete the Student Support Services Application, drop it off at our office or mail it to: Student Support Services, 007 Innovative Teaching & Technology Center(ITTC), University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa 50614-0388. Tutor Request (TRIO Students Only)
You may request a tutor by completing the Tutor Request Form and submitting it to your advisor or any of the SSS staff.
You and your SSS advisor will meet periodically throughout the year as determined by you and your SSS advisor. Your Advising Syllabus will give you more information about your visits and what to expect.
